One-Day Observation (Activity Log)
Day: 3rd February
I met up with Peter at the neighbourhood near Tampines West on 3 February. We went for dinner at the coffee shop “Tze Char” store at 6.30pm. We had dinner till 8pm before proceeding for some grocery shopping at Prime Supermarket.
Peter first shopped in the cup noodles section for which he first scanned for any available promotion. As Nissin cup noodles was well liked by his children and was on promotion at “2 for $2.80”, he purchased 6-cup noodles. He then proceeded to the promotion section outside the store and purchased 2 big bottles of Coca Cola, which was on promotion at $1.50 instead of $2.50. Next, he went to the bread section to grab a loaf of Gardenia bread.
After the entire shopping session, I chatted with Peter about his decision making when it comes to purchasing items. To Peter, value for money is most important and price is a very important factor on most occasions. Unless the item is to be used for very long, he does not see the need to buy expensive stuffs.
Next, we chatted about his decision making pattern when it comes to choosing of airlines. He shared that traveling is a luxury and he would want his family to enjoy instead of suffer when on a holiday. Hence, he would typically take his family on economy flights rather than budget airlines and also stay in at least a 4 star hotel.
To him, Scoot is a brand associated with Singapore Airlines but the services and inflight experience is totally different. He also said that Scoot should have more TV advertisements like Jetstar, which starred Joanne Peh from Mediacorp. In this way, the older generation can relate to the airline more.
We parted ways at 9.30pm.
