Day 1: Wednesday, 29th January
I was on a half-day leave and arrived at office at 2pm. One day before Chinese New Year eve and the festive mood has already kicked in at the office with colleagues spending time chatting and indulging in Chinese New Year goodies. Office was relatively empty as many had left early for Chinese New Year preparations. At 6pm, I left the office promptly and met up with my boyfriend for dinner at Bugis. Junction. Went home at around 10pm and rested at home by surfing the Internet and watching TV before bedtime at around 3am.

Today is Chinese New Year eve. I did not have to attend work as office was closed for Chinese New Year. At around 12pm, I proceeded to have Reunion lunch with my boyfriend’s family at Grand Hyatt Hotel. Lunch ended at around 3pm and I went home to rest before proceeding for Reunion Dinner with my family at 7pm. We had a great steamboat dinner and proceeded home at 10pm. I spend the rest of my night chatting with my brother about his school life and my work life and watching of the numerous Chinese New Year shows on TV. The tradition of the Chinese was that the later you sleep, the longer your parents will live till. So at 2am, I met up with my friend and had a good chat till 5am. Then, I proceeded home for the night.

Day 2: Thursday, 30th January
Today is the Day 1 of Chinese New Year. I woke up at 1130am and dressed up prettily for house visits of the day. First, I visited my paternal side followed by my maternal side. Chinese New Year has become increasingly boring as I grew older and I wished that I were overseas instead. The typical run of the mill gathering with some gambling sessions. All visiting ended at around 7pm. After which I home and had dinner with my family before meeting up with my boyfriend for a movie session. The theatres were extremely crowded and we managed to catch a 930pm movie called “The Lion Men” by Jack Neo. The movie ended at 12am and with no other places to go, we went home.

Day 3: Friday, 31st January
Today was a very typical day. There were no house visits and no Chinese New Year parties. Hence, I lay in bed till evening before proceeding to dinner at 6pm. I went to Thomson Road’s Prata House for dinner as everything else were closed for Chinese New Year. After which, I proceeded to the temple for some praying sessions in hope that 2014 would be kind to me. I went home and did some facial before bed time at 3am.

Day 4: Saturday, 1st February
Today I visited my friend’s new house at Serangoon. The house had its own private pool and private lift. It motivated me to work harder for my future. The party started at 2pm with some trivial gambling sessions with friends followed by dinner at 7pm and a pool party at 11pm. I enjoyed myself very much as there were much fun and laughter. Everything ended at 3am and I went home for the day.

Day 5: Sunday, 2nd February
Today is supposed to be a workday for many but my office was closed so that everyone could have a longer Chinese New Year break. Nothing exceptional happened today. I had woke up late in the afternoon, watched TV before dinner at 7pm. I went to Nex Mall for dinner at the food court and went for some grocery shopping at NTUC supermarket. Proceeded to buy some bubble tea before heading home at 10pm. I had spent the night surfing the net and doing facial, prepping myself for work tomorrow. I saw that Scoot had a promotion for its “Tuesday Glory” promotion for which the ticket to Bangkok started from $8. If Bangkok was not in turmoil, I would have booked it and fly off during the weekends for some crazy shopping!

Day 6: Monday, 3rd February
Work starts today at 9am. It seems that everyone was still immersed in the Chinese New Year mood. Work was relatively slow paced today as I had prepared my work a month in advance with many plans. I went to lunch with my colleagues at a Chinese Restaurant to start off the year with a good meal and wishing everyone a prosperous year ahead. Work ended at 6pm and I went to Bugis to meet up with my boyfriend for Dinner at Bugis Plus. Went shopping around for some new clothing and went home at 10pm. The night ended with yet again, Internet surfing and bedtime at 12am. Checking my Facebook, it seems that many of my friends are already planning for their next long weekend and it is about time I do the same too!
